Classes

The Risen are extraordinary people. They are warriors of the Light, soldiers brought back from the dead by the power of the Traveler. Their only purpose is to fight. Their only objective is to win. To this end, the Traveler granted this army of the chosen dead exceptional endurance, strength, and agility, and gave them its greatest gift of all: the ability to wield paracausal Power.

Your class is the primary definition of what your Risen can do. More than a set of skills and proficiencies, your class shapes the way you view the world and approach situations both in and out of combat. A defender who comes across a band of starving pilgrims would feel compelled to lend aid or support without question. A gunslinger, on the other hand, may be wary of the strangers, and may try to learn more about them before offering any help.

Your class gives you a variety of special features, such as the arcstrider’s graceful lethality, or the voidwalker’s enhanced Light abilities. At low levels, your class may not give you much, but each class should still feel unique. As you advance in level, you start to refine and enhance your abilities until you become the best of your kind.

Superclass

As a Risen you have an inherent second class called your superclass. The superclass comes in three types: Hunter, Titan, or Warlock. Which type of superclass you have is determined by the class you pick, as shown in the Superclass column of the Class Overview tables. Your superclass determines which exotics you can attune to and which classes you can multiclass into.

Paracausal Powers

As a Risen you have Powers, special effects you can cause thanks to the paracausal forces you wield. You have a Power ability score determined by your class (see Class Overview tables). You use your Power ability score when determining your Power attack modifier or setting the DC for Powers that call for a saving throw. When you are told to make a Power saving throw, you make a saving throw using your class’s Power ability.

Power Ability Score: determined by class

Power Modifier: same as your Power Ability Score’s modifier

Power Attack Modifier: your Power modifier + your proficiency bonus

Power Save DC: 8 + your Power modifier + your proficiency bonus

For instance, if your Power ability is listed as Intelligence, and you have a +3 Intelligence modifier and a +2 proficiency bonus, you calculate your Power stats as:

Power Ability Score: Intelligence

When told to make a Power saving throw, you make an Intelligence saving throw.

Power Modifier (same as Intelligence modifier): +3

Power Attack Modifier: 3 + 2 = +5

Power Save DC: 8 + 3 + 2 = 13

See our Powers section for more information.
